Made in Dagenham is a smash hit musical... and it's also a true story. If you're into girl power you'll love this splendid feel-good show with memorable music by David Arnold, lyrics by Richard Thomas and an excellent book by Richard Bean. The film version came first, in 2010, which was in turn inspired by the real-life story of historic events during the Ford sewing machinists strike of 1968.
The musical made its West End and world premiere at the Adelphi in 2014 and it's still going strong, a cheerful and thought-provoking look at what can happen when a bunch of women decide to stand up for their rights in a climate where female workers were treated about as far from equally as it gets.
Funny and touching, it takes place in Essex during 1968, where life is about to change dramatically for Rita O’Grady. When it's announced that the women in the stitching room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant will soon suffer wage cuts, with their skilled jobs demoted to unskilled work, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford... but do they win? Come along and see!
