Waitress the Musical is a proper treat for your ears, packed with fabulous show tunes by Sara Bareilles. The book's by Jessie Nelson and this very special musical is inspired by the 2007 hit movie of the same name starring Keri Russell, who also wrote and directed it. This is the tale of waitress and talented pie-chef Jenna Hunterson, her crappy relationship with Earl, her abusive husband, and her decision to make an escape from the life that makes her so miserable.
When Jenna accidentally becomes pregnant, she decides to have an affair with her young, good looking married gynaecologist, but Dr Jim isn't her saviour. A lover just isn't good enough. She needs to create her own destiny. When a pie competition catches her eye, Jenna is inspired by the thought of the prize money she's determined to win. Will Jenna's secret ingredient, courage, finally get her where she wants to be? Come along and see. As Variety magazine said, this is a “delicious tale that's not simply about getting Prince Charming, but getting its heroine to take action and discover her worth!" And it's all told via 42 dazzling show tunes... epic!
